Shane Griffin: How Can Vitamin Patch Club Change Your Life?

Shane Griffin is an entrepreneur who went from owning/running night clubs to going through a personal journey from addiction to recovery in rehab, to now owning some of the largest health-based companies across North America. Shane, who is originally from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, now lives in Marina del Rey, California and is the founder of the Vitamin Patch Club, the first vitamin patch company that helps people absorb three-times more nutrients than a pill form.

Shane, Tell us about your business: What inspired you to start Vitamin Patch Club? How did the idea for your business come to fruition?
Vitamin Patch Club is exactly as you would think. A patch you wear that delivers you your daily dose of vitamins. The idea came to me while I was in a pharmacy buying nicotine patches to quit smoking. As a nutritionist I am always looking for an edge for my clients and it just hit me, why don’t we do this with vitamins?!

What is unique about Vitamin Patch Club?
We are one of the few companies out there that actually do this but more important than that, we are a company that by design is positioned to make a positive impact on the world. I built the company to be a vehicle for positive change in the world. We vastly improve your vitamin intake and then each month we give back to three unique charities. So far we have supported over 42 different charities. I believe that if you can invite people into a community or tribe that is doing good in the world, we all win. Our patches help our customers and our customers help the world we just connect the two.

What problem overall is your company trying to solve?
We believe that truth is a problem in the vitamin space. We want to change the idea that any one thing can change everything. The biggest problem I see as a life coach and nutritionist is customers being lied to about what one thing can do. I always go back to the fact that we are a supplement company intended to do just that supplement where you are short. We are a cog in the wheel of a healthy lifestyle.

I built the company to be a vehicle for positive change in the world.

What were the biggest obstacles launching the company and how did you overcome them?
I had several obstacles from learning e-commerce to designing and testing a real quality product to explaining the many benefits of utilizing a patch for vitamin delivery. I just knew I wanted to do this the right way so I wish I could tell you a great story here but truthfully we tried and tested over and over and over until we got it right. Persistence and the fact that if I do this right we can change the world, one patch at a time, is what allowed me to persevere.

Who would you consider to be a significant influence on you professionally?
My parents first, they taught me hard work and laid the foundation of the value in giving back. Following them I would say Richard Branson and Marcus Lemonis. Richard for his philanthropy of course but also his ability to push the limits, strive for greatness and always be branding. Marcus, I value his business fundamentals, he has a no-nonsense approach to solving the problem at hand.

What three tips would you give to other entrepreneurs who are starting out on their own journey?
Plan for 3 times longer than you currently are. Pivot fast and take as many steps back as you can to gain perspective all the while keeping your eye on your 10,000 ft vision.

I believe that if you can invite people into a community or tribe that is doing good in the world, we all win.

What does the future have in store for your company?
We are currently in R&D for new products including CBD patches and larger specific athletic and designed patches. We are on target to our goal this year to donate $20,000.00 a month to various charities. My ultimate goal is $1,000,000.00 a month.
